lobal community dedicated to connecting researchers across cultures and ge
ographies in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Since its ince
ption in 2016 at CHI\, the HCIxB community has fostered collaboration and
mentorship\, especially supporting early career researchers [1\,2\,3\,4].
This year at ICTD 2024\, we will gather to explore and discuss the applica
tion of Aspirations theory in ICTD.\n\nAspirations are long-term desires t
hat aim to transcend one’s current situation\, acting as powerful motiva
tors for marginalized communities to overcome adversity. Researchers in IC
TD have increasingly adopted aspirations theory\, designing technology tha
t supports users’ aspirations in contexts of socio-economic change. This
workshop will discuss these themes within HCI4D\, where aspirations have
broad applications\, from mental health and healthcare to education and ac
cessibility.\n\nWe seek abstracts discussing how aspirations theory has in
fluenced research\, practice\, or education within ICTD. This is a chance
to share your experiences and contribute to a growing dialogue around aspi
rations and solidarity in challenging socio-economic contexts. Please subm
it an abstract (optional) if you are interested in joining\n\nQuestions to
guide Your Submission:\n\n How does aspirations theory apply to your wor
k?\n What new opportunities has this theory opened up for you?\n What as
pects of the theory resonate with your approach?\n Are there elements of
aspirations theory you find challenging or disagree with?\n\nWorkshop Stru
cture\n\nThe workshop will be conducted in two 90-minute hybrid sessions o
